is the 2018 Capstone project for Columbia College of Chicago’s
Interactive Arts and Media Team. In collaboration with the Field
Museum of Chicago, we have created two interactive concepts
for SUE the T. rex’s new exhibit opening Spring 2019.

Asset 7
“SUE is a T. rex. They are a majestic murderbird, and Chicago is lucky they grace the city with their presence.”

SUE is the Field Museum’s piece de resistance in an extensive collection of fossils and prehistoric artifacts. The skeleton is currently being moved to a private suite in The Griffin Halls of Evolving Planet, slated to open Spring 2019. The mounting will be updated with their gastralia, and the exhibit with pronouns matching Sue's sexual ambiguity.

After receiving the concept direction from The Field Museum, we got to work brainstorming. We paid special attention to all the unique considerations for this project, like the available space, neighboring installations, and universal accessibility.

After pitching six ideas to our client at The Field Museum,
we decided on two to design and develop.
